Welcome to the Student & Dependent Enrollment Center! Here you will find all the necessary tools to enroll in your school sponsored policy.

We suggest you review the certificate for your rates, effective dates and optional coverages before starting the enrollment process. The plan’s benefits can be found in the certificate within the Schedule of Benefits section with the exclusions towards the back.

Student Eligibility

International Students:  All international students on a non-immigrant visas are automatically enrolled in this insurance by the University of Richmond Office of International Education.  Please see Health Insurance for International Students for more information.

Students must actively attend classes for at least the first 31 days after the date for which coverage is purchased.

Voluntary Domestic Students & Dependent Eligibility & Enrollment Instructions

Voluntary Domestic Students:  All degree-seeking full-time and part-time domestic undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to enroll in this insurance plan.


Students must actively attend classes for at least the first 31 days after the date for which coverage is purchased. Home study, correspondence and online courses do not fulfill the Eligibility requirements that the student actively attend classes.

Dependent Eligibility: Eligible students who do enroll may also insure their dependents.  Please see the Enrollment Instructions below.

Deadlines:

  • Annual Enrollment Deadline: September 10, 2019 – Closed
  • Spring/Summer Deadline: February 15, 2020

To enroll your dependent, please enroll them at the same time as the Primary Student by following the Voluntary Domestic link provided above.

If you do not enroll by *September 10, 2019 you will no longer be eligible to enroll until the following semester unless you experience a Qualifying Life Event.


Visiting Scholars

Visiting Scholars:  Visiting Scholars are required to purchase this plan on a mandatory basis.

Students must actively attend classes for at least the first 31 days after the date for which coverage is purchased.

Deadlines:

  • Annual Enrollment Deadline: September 10, 2019 – Closed
  • Spring/Summer Deadline: February 15, 2020 



To enroll your dependent, please enroll them at the same time as the Primary Student by following the Voluntary Domestic link provided above.

Open Enrollment Periods

If you are a student in the Fall semester and eligible to purchase coverage and you choose not to enroll for coverage before the Annual Enrollment Deadline of *September 10, 2019, you, and your dependents will not be eligible to enroll again until the next Fall Semester unless you experience a “Qualifying Life Event” during the year.

*For new students and their eligible dependents in the Spring semester, your open enrollment deadline is February 15, 2020.


Qualifying Life Event

Students who did not enroll themselves or their dependent(s) during the open enrollment period may be able to enroll in the policy if they experience a Qualifying Life Event.

Qualifying Life Events include:

  • Acquiring a new family member
  • Marriage/Civil Union
  • Divorce
  • Loss or change of Job
  • Expiration of Benefits

If you and/or your dependents meet the requirements for a Qualifying Life Event, you will need to provide the following:

  • Proof of qualifying life event/proof of involuntary loss of coverage
  • Enrollment Form
  • Payment

All documents and payment must be received within 30 days of the qualifying life event. After 30 days, the student or dependents will no longer be eligible to enroll in the plan, until fall of the following school year.
