Welcome to the Student Enrollment Center! Here you will find all the necessary tools to enroll in your school sponsored policy.

We suggest you review the certificate for your rates, effective dates, and optional coverages before starting the enrollment process. The plan’s benefits can be found in the Certificate within the Schedule of Benefits section with the exclusions towards the back.

Hard Waiver Student Eligibility

All full-time domestic undergraduate students who are registered for 3 or more courses (equivalent to 12 credit hours) are automatically enrolled in this insurance plan at registration and the premium for coverage is added to their tuition billing unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished.

International Students

All international students, regardless of credit hours, are required to purchase this insurance plan on a mandatory basis.


Hard Waiver Student Enrollment Instructions

Enrollment Deadlines:

  • Annual Enrollment Deadline: 9/13/22 – Closed
  • Spring/Summer Enrollment Deadline: 2/8/23 – Closed


Students are required to Enroll or Waive for EACH SEMESTER. If a student waived or enrolled in the Fall, the student must waive or enroll again for the Spring Semester.  If you have missed the hard waiver enrollment deadline, but have not previously waived out of the insurance, you will be automatically enrolled in the insurance by your school, after the waiver deadline. Once you are enrolled in the plan, there are no cancellations or refunds.


 


The cost of the insurance will be billed to your student tuition account.


Voluntary Students  & Enrollment Instructions

Voluntary Students:  All Domestic Graduate students taking 6 or more credit hours are eligible to enroll in this insurance plan.

Students must actively attend classes for at least the first 31 days after the date for which coverage is purchased. Home study, correspondence and online courses do not fulfill the Eligibility requirements that the student actively attend classes.

Open Enrollment Periods

If you are a student in the Fall semester and eligible to purchase coverage and you choose not to enroll for coverage before the Annual Enrollment Deadline of *September 13, 2022, you will not be eligible to enroll again until the next Fall Semester unless you experience a “Qualifying Life Event” during the year.

*For new students in the Spring semester, your open enrollment deadline is February 8, 2023.


Qualifying Life Event

Students who did not enroll themselves during the open enrollment period may be able to enroll in the policy if they experience a Qualifying Life Event.

Qualifying Life Events include:

  • Acquiring a new family member
  • Marriage/Civil Union
  • Divorce
  • Loss or change of Job
  • Expiration of Benefits


If you meet the requirements for a Qualifying Life Event, you will need to provide the following:

  • Proof of qualifying life event/proof of involuntary loss of coverage
  • Enrollment Form
  • Payment

All documents and payment must be received within 30 days of the qualifying life event. After 30 days, the student or dependents will no longer be eligible to enroll in the plan, until fall of the following school year.

UnitedHealthcare Global: Global Emergency Services:

Travel assistance is included in Delaware State University’s Student Injury and Sickness Plan. If you did not enroll in your school’s plan, you may still enroll only for the Travel Assistance Program.

To enroll by mail: Download an enrollment form and submit by mail using a check or money order. The mailing address is listed on the back of the Enrollment Forms.

(The effective date of your coverage will be the date we received the enrollment form with full payment in our office.)
